{FECA Vision Choir} Vision Update, many praises to God
TK has just returned from India and reports wonderful things happening there after Vision left. This is God's doing and nothing about what Vision did or did not do, so give God all the praise and glory.
* One of the Vision Seeds members accepted Jesus into her life after doing ministry together during Vision's trip. We did not realize she was not a true disciple because she grew up learning the lingo but now TK tells us her life has been transformed and she is sharing with her unbelieving friends (who are turning their backs on her because she no longer parties with them).
* Ten groups of two went out for mission trips in remote areas of India. A team of two young men has spent the last 42 days visiting 17 villages and sharing the Gospel. They were turned away in two of the villages but in the other villages, they started 15 churches (small house church of 25- 50) and baptized 532. All 10 groups baptized and planted churches throughout the area they were in. When TK met them, one young man had a bandage on his head. He said it was no big deal but TK found out someone has thrown a rock which hit him on the head while he was sharing the Gospel.
* One of our main goals in going to India with the teaching team in May and Vision in the summer was to empower the locals. The young people were amazed when we prayed for the adults (they are used to the elders praying for them) but now they boldly pray for others. Many elders in the churches used to view their young people as kids but now they realize they can be valuable partners in ministry.
* Daniel in Bangalore has quit his other jobs to concentrate on teaching music and started a choir among his students. He now volunteers for free to help SFI because God has blessed his school and he is earning more now than when he was working three jobs. Three of the young adult are teaching youth Choir, Band and Dance at "Hang Out" (after school Program) as the youth do not have a place for them to hang out after school. They will be performing 3-4 times a year at the local Christian Place.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 21
Health-wise, it seems about half the team has the 24 hour stomach flu. Kayla had it first, then Nicole, Allison, then at Bangalore, Rachel and Brendan, so here in Hong Kong, most are well on the way to recovering. (Marshall still insist he had the spicy bug, not the flu since he only threw up and did not have diarrhea like the rest of the kids.) we arrived in LA at noon, but cleared immigration and customs and were out by 1 PM, an incredibly efficient process to be greeted by Judy, Everett, Ethan and Bethany, Kelven, Kathy and Kaylin, and Eugene. Pinky came to bring Hannah, Allison and Terry home, and we are glad to be back.
One final thought regarding our ministry this trip. Marshall and Mei discussed with Tim and Kloe regarding all the healing we saw, and agreed that healing and power ministry is deceptively alluring. It is wonderful to see people healed when we pray for them and we would love to see more deliverance and healing happen in our church, but if we are not careful, healing becomes the focus and not God and His work. It is so easy to glorify the person whose prayer healed rather than the God who healed. Our focus should always be the Gospel and what Jesus did. Healing should be a secondary benefit that comes from changed lives.

Re: {FECA Vision Choir} Report 20
One correction: the voice Blessy and Sweety heard was saying "Glory to the Lord", not "praise". Sunday, continued. True to Indian Stretchable Time, by the time we settled our hotel and bus rental bills and loaded the luggage on the bus, it was 9:44 when we headed out to John's church. We got there a little after 10, a beautiful Spirit filled church with about 50 to 60 adults and children meeting in a mat-covered mud floor room with metal roofing forming the walls and an adjoining room covered with cloth for walls and roof, but it did not rain when we were there. We sang a few songs, Tim preached and we prayed for most of the people there. We saw some people healed and are reminded again that church is not a building or music, but a gathering of the elect and we were blessed to be there. We left at around noon and headed toward the airport 5 hours away but stopped at the truck stop to eat lunch' so we arrived at the airport a few minutes after 6 in plenty of time for our 9:30 flight to Bangalore. Kayla has eaten something wrong and is having diarrhea but once it passes, she should be okay. The only problem we faced was getting Eugene through security. Tim had mistakenly booked Eugene not using his Chinese name shown on his passport, but just as we pr'yed about this, security accepted his Hong Kong ticket and his driver's license as ID, so now at 8 PM, we are all sitting waiting to board in about an hour. Our flight to Hong Kong has been delayed an hour and 45 minutes, but we should still be able to make our LA connection. Will let everyone know if we get to enjoy Hong Kong longer. One fact I failed to mention was our new bus driver in Khammam, Adam. He is a humble servant who used to be a truck driver before God called him into ministry. He is volunteering his time to drive us to and from Hyderabad and to every ministry. On Saturday, he was cooking and serving lunch to the leaders at their training. With us most of the time is another P'stor we call Guru (because he is older than MJ). It turns out Blessy is his only child, and he is so grateful Vision was a blessing to his daughter. We came hoping empower the locals, and we did for some, but it turns out we were more blessed and empowered by the people here! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "FECA Vision Choir" group. {FECA Vision Choir} Report 19
Sunday, 7/16
We ate breakfast and hurried to pack our luggages on the bus to leave by 9 AM and sing at John's (one of the Seeds tenors) church on the way out of town towards Hyderabad.
Might have one more update which we will send from some airport later. If not, see you in LA.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 18
After up-chucking a huge amount of spicy curry at 11 PM and again at 2 AM, Marshall feels a lot better. Maybe something dirty or he just can't take the spicy food. But an egg omelet sandwich breakfast stayed down and after devos, we headed off at 9ish IST (Indian Stretchable Time) for a village church about 40 km away. There we met up with 40-50 pastors and leaders in an "abandoned" church building capable of seating 150 or so. About a year and a half ago, the pastor took his congregation to join an American organization which is able to adequately pay him, so MJ took over this place. We sang and Tim talked about Elisha and what made him Elijah's successor, namely his FATS, (Faithfulness, Availability, Teachability, and Spirit-filled). We then pr'yed for these folks, some of whom we met Thirsday. We ate lunch - briyani and they cooked a special curried chicken for us (a real meat treat while the pastors ate dai) with no utensils (just fingers), then we left to return to our hotel and continue our debriefing while Tim stayed longer to minister to these pastors.
Some of the comments from our debrief:
* I saw how powerful God is here in India and I want to bring it back.
* I didn't really know what to expect. He really opened my eyes and provided me a family here. When I go back I want to have less fear in sharing the gospel and serving God. I know that even though I do suffer he will always be with me.
* I was reminded of the urgency of sharing the gospel. I want to remember the PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens) acronym
* Several mentioned their intent to faithful do daily devos when they got back.
Each person has at least two people to hold them accountable to help them keep their resolutions.
Before we dismissed, we blessed our Seeds teammates and they in turn blessed us. Since this is the last time we can do this as we cannot at a public airport, we had a chance to tearfully hug and say our au revoirs, then we went to finish packing for our many flights tomorrow, ate a light dinner at 6 and left at 7 to another house church meeting.

Re: {FECA Vision Choir} Report 17
Friday, 7/14
While waiting for breakfast, we shared some more stories about the ministry time yesterday. A young 12 year old girl, the daughter of the woman who cooked lunch for us, shared about her love for Muslims, and how she is reading the Q'uran so she can point her M. classmates to Isa. She also makes it a point to share the good news to 5 M. friends each day in school. A lady with knee pain was healed instantly. Nicole had her hands on the knee and felt something moving under her hand when the lady cried out that she was well. Mari had her hands on a childless woman's stomach when Tim pr'yed for a baby and Mari felt a kick on her hands. We will have to wait nine months to see what happened. Blessy, who is staying at Sweety's home said last night, both heard a woman's voice call out several times in English, "Praise to the Lord". Sweety's mother, who was praying nearby said she did not hear any sound and neither did Sweety's younger brother. Only the two girls, who said it sounded like Mari and Hannah's voice. Sweety's mother told them not to be frightened, it is the Lord and quoted the story of Hannah and Samuel to them.
We left at 9 to go to a CSI (Church of South India) school located about 45 minutes away which also has a school and housing for deaf children. We sang a full, program for about 150 kids, with Jabez and Nicole giving their testimonies, did the puppet skit which the kids related to with great laughter, and Joanne preached a wonderful message. We were then given an audience with the Bishop of this diocese and sang the Aaronic blessing from Num. 6 to him and his staff. We then went to minister to about 40 deaf children, singing and signing three VBS songs and "Do Lord". Brendan gave his testimony translated into Tegulu then into sign language, and we had a time to pr'y for each child, including the headmistress. She said of all the visitors the school had, no one showered love on these children like we did. PTL, it's all about His glory. We then returned home, ate lunch, took a little rest and reassembled at 4:30 to continue our debriefing and do today's devos. One theme from our debriefing is the sense of family. We feel like we are a family here; many of the local youths believe because of their parents' influence, and we lamented the loss of the family in America. After we pr'yed for them, Tim and Kloe left at 6:30 to visit a hospital hoping for help from SFI and visit a friend's family to pr'y for their mentally handicapped son. We met for dinner at 8:30 after Tim and Kloe returned but Marshall skipped dinner as he is not feeling well and wants to get extra rest. Meiring is also feeling a little under the weather. After dinner, we all decided to call it a night and go sleep early.

I am so glad and blessed to hear of all the wonderful and miraculous things the Lord is doing among you and for the sense of family you are all experiencing there! I am praying for you all daily and trust that Marshall and Meiring will be feeling better and more rested. Please take care and keep up the good work and God bless and keep you!

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 16
Thursday 7/13
We met at 7:30 for breakfast this morning. Hannah has a sore throat and a low fever. Jason's leg still hurts and Allison had her back brace on again, so we are learning not all healing is instantaneous. We cancelled our morning school program and spent the next two hours to begin the tour debriefing process, each sharing how God opened our eyes during this trip. We will have to complete this part of the debrief later as we needed to get on the bus and travel two hours out of Khammam to a village church where we met about 40 leaders and pastors having a leadership training program. But first we stopped at a home of a couple for lunch. This lady and her husband trains 700-800 pastors of local churches, and she is a wonderful cook. By the way, Hannah has recovered from her fever.
After lunch, we drove to the training site. It is now about 3 PM. The church building is about 12 feet by 24 feet with almost no ventilation but for three ceiling fans, so although it was comfortably cool and rainy outside, it was stuffy and warm inside, especially with all the body heat. A loud speaker on the roof blared the drums and singing to the entire neighborhood and enabled the men sitting outside (there was no more room inside the church) to hear. Worship was incredibly passionate. We sang three songs and Tim preached a powerful, encouraging message to these servants of the Lord. We then pr'yed for these leaders. Some were pastors of house churches of 4-5 families, some were leaders of minority groups with many hundreds churches, but all were growing and multiplying churches, just like we read about in church growth books. And even though these were all lovers of our Lord, it did not mean they did not face the trials of daily living. Most of them just farm for a living, some just being paid menial subsistence wages, and some struggled with health issues. A lady was healed of (probably an abscess) toothache miraculously. How privileged we were to witness their lives, and humbled to be able to bless them when we are the ones who should be blessed by them. Since the forecast is for heavy rains this evening, the evening program was cancelled so we were able to eat at our hotel after the two hour drive back with our local teammates and do our devos together and continue the debriefing session until 11 PM when we called it a night.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 15
Because the hotel restaurant breakfast is not used to serving a large crowd, we met for breakfast at 7:30 so we could leave by 9:30 (so much for the "no Bible, no breakfast" plan). We were joined today by two more members of the local Seeds team, John, a tenor, and Kumar, a bass. We drove an hour and a half to get to a government school out in the farming villages and were surprised to be greeted by about 250 students, all lined up in two rows (like you see at football games) between the gate and where we were going. A group of boys pounding on drums led us in to the porch running along several classrooms. We were given flowers and asked to participate in planting trees (the holes were dug and all we needed to do was peel off the plastic wrapping the roots and drop it in the hole, push the dirt back and water the tree), another Vision first. Eugene led the Vision singing and Kayla shared her testimony and we did the missing pieces skit but some of the teachers were offended by the religious nature of our program, and not wanting to harm future ministry by the locals, we backed off on doing any ministry and returned to our hotel for lunch.
We all got back together after a short rest to debrief yesterday and this morning's activities, then did our devos which "happened" to be from Joshua 1 about being strong and courageous, just what we needed to hear. We ate a light dinner and had a few minutes before leaving so we spent the time pr'ying for Marshall (it turns out his right leg is slightly shorter than his left which might be causing his hip, pain) and Jason (his right leg muscle is twisted so his leg is also shorter and causing leg and back pains). Interestingly, it was not until Eugene pr'yed for Jason that his leg began to grow; seems that cleared up some barrier between the guys. We also prayed for Allison's scoliosis back problem and we could see Allison's shoulders even up, at least temporarily.
We then headed off to another house church meeting, this one among a lower caste village. We got there and saw the meeting was being held in the middle of a street with about 60 congregants sitting on mats placed on the dirt road and some plastic chairs for us and some older people in the back behind the mats. The sky was threatening and some of us pr'yed to not rain and indeed,, during the whole time, we felt random cooling rain drops, but no rain. We stood around everyone as we sang (surround sound) and noticed there were perhaps a dozen more neighbors standing behind where Vision is suppose to sit and someone on a nearby rooftop intently listening. Jordan and Moshi gave powerful testimonies and we performed the puppet skit, all translated by Prem. Brendan than gave his second sermon using the text focused on 2 Cor. 4:8 translated by MJ (a house church movement leader but his willingness to translate just shows his humility). Tim then asked if anyone wanting pr'yer and almost everyone sitting on the mats and chairs raised their hand. Among the more interesting answer to pr'yer was an older lady who had not stood without a cane for years. She was able to stand up by herself and walked about twenty feet, back and forth. A man blinded by cataracts was able to see in one eye after much intercession, a partial healing. Tim wants to return to pr'y for total healing for this man. We returned to our hotel at about 10:30, tired but joyful.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 14
Our plan for the next four days is to go to four different private schools and do a two hour program from ten to noon, no VBS. Then take a break, and do an evening program with as many as eight of the local Seeds singers (plus Joanne, Nancy and Jabez). Prem was a young man, a bass, who met us at the airport and we also met his father and older sister at the truck stop yesterday. When possible, we are starting later as Khammam is a small rural town operating more on Chinese time, so we will be implementing the slogan started by a Chinese P'stor from two generations ago (someone let me know if it was Leland Wang or Andrew Ho), "no Bible, no breakfast" the week we are here.
This morning, everyone seems quite well, Kayla's rash is almost gone, and Allison checked after she woke up to find her legs a matched set. We met for devos at 7:30 and did yesterday's passage, ate breakfast at 8:15 and left around 9:30 - joined by Prem, another bass named Keen, and an alto, Blessy - for a private school run by the Church of South India an hour or so from where we stay. There were about 50 children at this school, but since we started an hour late, we ran a shorter program with only two VBS songs, the puppet skit, and Terry and Nacy sharing their testimonies. Prem, dedicated at birth by his parents, and though only a young man in his twenties, already leads several hundred house churches and did all the translating. Mari spoke a short but powerful message based on Jn. 10 coupled with the parable of searching for the 1 lost sheep. TK then asked those wanting to hear the Shepherd's voice to raise their hands and we got a chance to pr'y for most of the group including several of the teachers. We returned to our hotel by about 2:15 to eat lunch and wash some clothes. We met up at 5 PM, joined by Sweety, an alto, along with those we met this morning. We did our devos on the fruit of the Spirit and spent a few minutes pr'ying for Eugene's left leg, which we witnessed grew about a cm. to match his longer right leg. We then drove to join a house church meeting in a village about 45 minutes away, walking the last couple of hundred meters because the alley was too narrow for our bus. The place we met was the covered porch of a house of a believer, the porch perhaps 10 by 20 ft. It was drizzling when we got there but stopped when we started. There were about 60 between us and the congregation crowded on the floor (a few of us sat on plastic chairs), with perhaps another ten men standing outside the porch area in the open. The service started with their singing two worship songs in their language, Telugu. We just stood where we were sitting on the floor of the porch and sang several songs acapella. Hannah gave a wonderful testimony and Keen, a local youth, shared about his miraculous birth. There was no room for the puppet skit so we went directly to Mari's preaching from Jn. 5 about the healing of the invalid by the pool at Bethesda. Most of the congregants wanted pr'yer so we spent the next 15 minutes laying hands and blessing these wonderful people, and returned to our hotel about 10:15, too late for dinner, so we just ate whatever snack we have (mostly granola bars and jerky) and went to bed.
Some of the people we met here are amazing. One young man, slightly past 25 years old, is a disciple maker and helps trains 5 groups of about 1000 leaders each (5000 total) who in turn each disciples 10 to 20 grass roots (church) leaders who pastors an average of 10 house churches. Another man we met, let's call him MJ to protect his identity, apologized to TK because he said it has been two years since God told him to baptize 5 million in five years, and he has only baptized 1.5 million people (not he himself personally, but those he is discipling) so he is behind schedule. But in fact, church growth is taking place by multiplication and this growth happens geometrically and not linearly, so he is actually ahead of schedule if growth continues at its present pace. PTL.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 13
Our hotel kindly fixed an early breakfast for us at 6:30 so we were able to load up our luggage and leave by 7:40. Traffic was light so we got to the airport by 8:30, in plenty of time for our 10:50 flight to Chennai. We sang a blessing (Num. 6:24-26) and said a tearful good-bye to our driver. All our flights were on time and we arrived in Hyderabad at about 3 PM, were met by several locals, loaded up a new bus and left the airport at 4:15. The weather here is cooler than Madurai and it rained intermittently during the ride which lowered the temperature even more so it felt like it was around the mid-seventies. After 3 hours, we got off the expressway and ate dinner at a truck stop, then continued about 8 PM, arriving at our hotel in Khammam at about 10 PM, a long day of travel, but PTL, we all got here safely with our luggages. It was pouring after dinner when we got on the bus, but stopped long enough when we checked-in so we and all our luggage did not get wet, another example of His grace.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 12
After breakfast, we left at 8:30 to head off to Issac and Raymond's father's church (where we sang on Friday) to join their 9:30 service (couldn't make their early 7:30 service). After more than a half hour of high energy worship, we were each given a silk shawl. Then we sang 3 anthems with the full team and Tim spoke from Mk 5 about the woman touching the hem of J's robe and being healed. He challenged the congregation to seek to be touched, and we were able to minister to many. After the service, we surrounded the 5 Madurai team members (Jabek is going with us) and pr'yed and said our good-byes, ate briyani at a nearby restaurant and returned for a couple of hour rest.
We met at 4 PM to give instructions on packing for our flight to Hyderabad, changing planes at Chennai. Since these are domestic flights, we have strict weight limitations of one checked-in bag with only 15 kg. and one carry-on of 7 kg. The rest of our luggage will be put on our bus back to Bangalore where it wil be stored and brought to Bangalore airport next Sunday night when we fly there from Hyderabad to catch our Hong Kong flight. We then did our devos and ministered among ourselves. We especially pr'yed for Allison and had the joy of observing her right leg grow to match the length of her left leg. We also asked for the straightening of her back but will have to wait until she returns to LA to have her healing verified by her doctor. The rest of us are in relatively good health, but Kayla seems to have a slight heat rash on her skin. We then went to Paulus and Rosie's home to enjoy a wonderful home cooked dinner including home-made ice cream made by a friend of Rosie's. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing last night in Madurai and launched five Chinese lantern hot air balloons into the sky. These balloons about two feet in diameter, are heated by a small piece of wax which we set on fire. The heat from the wax causes the air to expand and lift up the balloon a few hundred feet before the balloons burn themselves out and fall harmlessly back on the ground. We then returned to our hotel to finish packing and weighing our luggage to get ready for a fairly early start Monday morning to the airport.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 11
We started the day with devos at 7 AM, then breakfast before heading off. Because classes in this State started a few days later, all schools here have Saturday classes to make up the missing days, so we did our VBS just like the previous four days, but we ended at noon so we could do a short program for all the elementary children like we did last year - a mini western music lecture and concert. Many of the children did remembered us.
During our rest time in the afternoon, Tim spent some time with Brendan and pr'yed for his leg, one of which was maybe an inch shorter than the other. B. said he could feel stretching and pulling and his short leg grew to match his other leg's length. He was able to remove the adjustment in his shoe and walk normally! PTL! We met up with all the Madurai Seeds team at our hotel, then stopped at the home of the girls' orphanage (see Vision reports 8&9 from last year) and bless one of the girls who is getting married on Monday, so we arrived at the nursing school late. We found out some school officials had planned a greeting for us but left since we were so late (apparently, we had gotten the start time wrong so we were really late) but this was also in His plans for we had more freedom to minister. Many of the students remembered us from last year and we heard some individuals share how our pr'yers for them last year were answered, some many weeks later. Denissa and Kayla shared before Brendan spoke, but the Lord orchestrated each person's talk to dovetail each other (with the songs and missing piece skit) to address the hurts of many of these students. Ministry time was sweet, and several students were overwhelmed by the H.S. We even saw our bus driver pr'ying for others. He said he saw this venue in his dreams last night. Amazing, one day old and receiving prophetic dreams already! Indeed, as we shared on the bus driving to a late dinner, we experienced what Paul wrote in 1 Chor. 3:5-9, we did some soil tilling, some sowing, and some harvesting, but soli Deo Gloria, He did it all. PTL.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 10
Yesterday was quite warm, in the 90's but not as warm as Tuesday. Today is much more pleasant. Terry slept a lot last night and went to Peniel with us although he slept during most of the activities. Mari, Eugene, Kayla and Nicole might be having slight colds or allergies. We are about half way through our ministry and feeling more tired as we are no longer running on adrenaline, but He is our strength. The guys seem more focused on sleep but some of the girls are ignoring the rules and staying up (talking?) late even though there are no VBS crafts to work on at night. Pr'y for more discipline.
This morning, a few hundred meters from Peniel, our bus slowed and stopped. Jabez immediately helped our bus driver diagnose the problem and jury-rigged a solution. The accelerator cable had broken. A mechanic from the Peniel mechanic school has been summoned to provide a permanent fix to the problem. May the Lord use this for His glory. Yesterday, when our bus driver was helping VBS with cutting paper for crafts, he drew a heart and put a cross in the center. We do not know what this symbolizes but Moshi will talk to him in his heart language sometime soon.
The mechanic from the bus manufacturer came from 40 km away with a replacement part to fix the accelerator cable. Meanwhile, Eugene and Moshi found out our driver had not been sleeping well for the last two nights as he has been experiencing hearing from above and in fact he said he has found new life as depicted by his drawing yesterday, and said he has never been so happy as when he is with us.
After napping, Terry was all well and we couldn't keep him from singing the last set of VBS songs. We ate another great lunch at the school with terrific mangos for dessert. We then returned to the hotel for rest before meeting up with the local Seeds singers at 4:30 to do our daily devos. Since we "happened to be" reading Jn. 10 about hearing the Shephard's voice, we practiced the listening pr'yer exercise and several shared how blessed they were that someone who did not know (since their eyes were closed) spoke exactly what they were struggling through. We spent a few minutes debriefing our ministry time last night and left to go to Issac's church where his father pastors.
Tonight, Eugene directed the entire program, which was translated into Tamil. Besides the missing piece skit, Moshi shared about the first time he heard from the Lord at a time he was struggling with his faith walk and that encouraged him to renew his walk. Brendan also shared how he struggled with his faith after losing his mom to cancer, a perfect match for Mari's message about walking through the valley of the shadow of death (Ps. 23:4). We then spent about 20 minutes ministering to about half of the congregation of about 50 people. Among those who came up for pr'yer was our bus driver. This gave Tim the opportunity to ask him if he believed in J. as his only God. He said no, J. and someone else, so Tim emphasized the exclusivity of our Lord's claim, so he accepted this and pr'yed the sinner's pr'yer.
We shared a meal hosted by the members and had a joyful bus ride back to the hotel with our new family member. We found out our bus driver has been working this job for 20 years, is single and cares for his sickly 65 year old mother and has an aunt who knows our Lord. He is illiterate so we need to figure a way to help him grow. It was very warm tonight, 100 F when the meeting ended, but our hearts were even warmer due to this lost sheep being found.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 9
Today is a planned half-sabbath day for us. We only have day 3 of VBS from 9:45 to 1 PM at Peniel School. We ate the lunch served us at the school and returned by 2:30 to our hotel with two hours free to rest. Terry is running a low fever and a couple more are on the verge of a bad throat, although it could be allergies. We met Issac, Denissa, and Jabez at 4:30 and had our group devos, then prepared a short salvation testimony and practiced giving it to two others in small groups, then demonstrated how to share the good news using the three circles. We then played a group game for about an hour, the Psychiatrist game. Pallus' wife, Rosie and their youngest son, Jude, met us at the hotel and we went off to join Paullus at dinner, basically eating mutton briyani. We returned to our hotel at 8:30 and spent the next hour and a half ministering to ourselves. Many tears were shed as we felt the sweet, sweet Spirit wash over us. The locals went home and we prepared for our evening rest.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 8
Yesterday, we only had five Madurai singers join us: altos Jeslin, (Janet, actually spelled Jenith) Jessy, Issac, soprano Denissa and bass Jabez. Issac's older brother, Raymond had extra classes and could not join us, so with sopranos Joanne and Nancy, we had 16 singers last night with Nicole sitting out but participating in the ministry time. This morning, Nicole is much better and Kayla almost normal while everyone else is reasonably healthy. After breakfast, we met at the hotel conference room for our devos. Tim used his influential contacts here to get us free use of this conference room whenever it has not been previously booked for other groups by the hotel. Jabez joined us this morning half way through devos, playing "hooky" from his classes, but so excited about the ministry. We arrived Peniel School at about 9:30 and started VBS at 9:45 and finished at 1 PM, had lunch at the school and returned home for a couple hours of R&R. Today was more overcast so cooler than yesterday, an answer to our pr'yer. We met up with three more members of the Madurai team at 4:30, Jeslin is not feeling well and Raymond is still catching up on his studies. We spent an hour rehearsing so we can get used to how everyone sounds. Singing is a great way to practice unity as we need to listen to each other and blend in so no one voice sticks out. Jabez has requested to join us as we go to Khammam, so Tim is trying to see if we can still book him airline tickets with the rest of us and even though Jabez is over 21, we still want to respect the culture and ask his parents' permission.
We left at six to go to Zion Church, where we sang last year. This church does a great ministry among people with HIV/AIDS. Again we prayed in the bus going there, arriving about 15 minutes before the 7 PM service. Promptly at seven they started the service with a couple of choruses and we took over. Jabez shared his story how his mother struggled to give birth to him, going to 3 hospitals before his safe delivery. Jabez's mother walked in just as he began his testimony and she was so surprised to her him talk about her. Allison also shared her testimony, we performed the puppet skit with translation, and Mari gave the message for the third meeting in a row. We spent about 30 minutes ministering to about 20 people, maybe half of the congregation, then ate dinner cooked by the church members. Jenith (who is Jabez's younger sister and Issac and Raymond's first cousin) went home with her parents and we received permission for Jabez to go to Khammam next week. We debriefed the ministry time after dinner as we are all learning how to pr'y in the Spirit and be a conduit for the Spirit to flow through us. One comment we heard from several Indian team members was their joy and surprise that they could pr'y for others. They had thought it was something only older pastors could do. It also took a lot of humility for the older congregation members to come forward to be pr'yed for by young people. We then returned to the hotel by 10 PM, where Jabez left his scooter and we met Issac's father and Denissa's father, who had come pick their kids up and we all went to bed early, another good day, PTL.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 7
After breakfast, we met to do our devos and left to go to Peniel School arriving before ten. Nicole is still fighting a cold, and cannot sing due to congestion and a low fever but when she takes one Tylenol, her fever gets to close to normal. Like last year, we taught VBS to a fifth grade class (of 36) and those not participating were busy in the other room cutting the crafts to be used later in the lesson plan. Even our bus driver joined in with scissors (and he sits in on all our concerts). It is very hot and humid here, at least 90 and maybe close to 100 at the afternoon venue. We ended the VBS at noon, ate lunch at the school and headed out to Keswick Public School (public means anyone can attend, but it is a private owned school) where we did a short one hour program starting at 2 PM to about 200 ten to twelve year old kids and about ten teachers packed in their (no A/C) chapel, Mari playing on an old piano with a non-working sustain piano. Jordan and Nancy shared their testimonies (Jordan about confirmation of her future career direction and Nancy how pr'yer helped her learn math), we did the missing pieces skit and Mari spoke and played a piano excerpt depicting an icy cold landscape and challenged to kids to guess where she came from. They correctly said Finland! We ended the program teaching them two VBS songs and even got the teachers in the saris to "get down and boogie". It is a hot (literally) but fun time. We then hurried back home, thankful for a bus with A/C because we met up with six Seeds members from Madurai, who finished their classes for the day. We practiced in our hotel lobby because we were not given permission to use an adjacent meeting room (for free). We did a mini-Vision orientation and taught them Praise His Holy Name, reviewed Lamb of God, Heaven Came Down among other songs. The music teaching team did a great job when they were here in May. We then walked to Lady Doak College, five minutes down the street from our hotel where we did our program (from 6:30-8) at their volunteer chapel service to over a hundred students. We repeated our missing piece skit and Janet from Madurai and Rachel shared their testimonies, and Mari spoke again. Tim closed the meeting by asking those wanting pr'yer to come forward. At first, the students were reluctant, but eventually a couple of girls came a knelt, and soon we were kept busy with probably twenty or so students coming (it was hard to keep count) because they would return to their seats after receiving pr'yer). We then walked to their cafeteria where we were served dinner and during dinner we shared. For many of the locals, it was the first time they had blessed anyone and they were so happy and excited they could do that. Joanne who travelled with us had an impression of the word "suicide", boldly asked and the student confirmed she had thought about it. Several asked to be remembered for health issues for themselves or their relatives, restoration of relationships both horizontally and vertically, and of course, their studies. We walked home at about 9:00 to say good bye our new team members until tomorrow and prepared for sleep, after a long, hot, tiring but exhilarating day of ministry.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 6
Monday 7/3
As we get ready to leave Bangalore, some of us are coming down with with coughs (Allison and Jordan) and Nicole has a sore throat. Tim and Moshi left at 7:30 to go get Kayla and Joanne from Baptist Hospital, while we took some extra luggage to Kutumba, the handicapped ladies home just down the street from our hotel, to store until we permanently leave Bangalore on July 17 (so we can minimize our luggage a bit). While waiting for Tim and Kayla to return, we did our devos and prayed for each other. We left together from CEO Centre at 10:30 AM, arrived in Madurai at 8:30 PM, and checked into JC Residency, a five star hotel! Someone said JC stands for our Lord, but it is really the owner's initials. However, this is a Christian hotel as all the paintings along the hallway are depictions of Jesus' life, feeding the 5000, Jarius' daughter, Lazarus coming forth from the tomb, etc. Kayla is so much better and Jordan seems completely recovered and we look forward to starting our ministry tomorrow.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 5
We left at 4 to sing at the youth meeting at the original NLF (mother) site, located (rented auditorium) on the United Theological College. As we have done the last three afternoons, we pr'yed during a significant portion of the bus ride. There were more than 40 youth there including about 30 from the New Hope orphanage and 8 or 9 mentors including P'stor Sam (younger man than the founder mentioned two reports ago). Daniel and Nicole shared their stories, and amazingly, Daniel's story matched so well with the skit in content (trying to fill the missing piece to the emptiness in her heart with money, education, work, partying and finally finding the key). Rachel was perfect as the lead heroine in this skit, expressing temporary joy and disappointment until finally finding the real answer. Nicole used the word "unashamed" in her sharing and it became a theme word used several times as the program continued, especially during ministry time. Because the audience was young, Jordan also taught them 4 VBS songs so they joined us in singing and dancing before Mari shared her story and challenged the youth to find their true destiny. We then spent the last half hour laying hands and asking the H. Spirit to come. It was a marvelous time that brought great joy to all of us as many tears were shed. Tim then asked the mentors to come forward and the youth then blessed their mentors as Tim also laid hands on these adults. Then we went forward and the audience blessed us wonderfully. Perhaps for the first time, many of these young people felt empowered and unashamed. Ann, one of their mentors, also challenged some of these youths to join Seeds. By the way, in the middle of the ministry time, our bus driver came and asked to be pr'yed, and although we did not have the language skills to explain the Good News to him, he will be driving us for the next week so remember him in your supplication too. We ate dinner there and returned rejoicing to do our devos and debrief. Kayla's bite still bothered her so Tim and a local brought her to see a doctor at Baptist Hospital, the best hospital in Bangalore with mostly western trained doctors to make sure the infection from the bite was not serious. Around midnight, received this email from Tim: "Kayla is doing fine, Dr. has run blood test and few other tests, she has cellulitis from bug bite she got on Tuesday. They are giving her anti-biotic and keeping her overnight to make sure she is fine. Joanne (23 years old, Indian girl) is here and spending night here with Kayla." Thank you, Lord.
Sunday, 7/2
Today is another cool beautiful day here in Bangalore. We will be singing at two services at NLF where we sang last night for the youth. Kayla will not be joining us this morning as the hospital wants to observe her reaction to the antibiotics. She is the only patient in the VIP third floor, so she getting the best of care. We left after breakfast at 8:05 and because there is little traffic, arrived at about 8:30, before the English 9 AM service. The service started promptly at 9 with P'stor Sam, a gifted musician himself, leading the worship singing. Because the Seeds people are attending their own service, Meiring sang with Vision for about 20 minutes, before Tim spoke. His very powerful message from Hab. 3:16-19 challenged us all to not have a circumstantial faith where we only believe when God is answering our prayers, but to build our faith on God alone even when things are going badly. At the end of the service, we had ministry time and pr'yed for many, and caused the next service to start 10 minutes late. The second service from 11-1 was their Kannada service. The worship music was very different in modality and tonality and very loud, but quite awesome. Communion was served at this service. We had to tear off a piece from a larger loaf and the juice was served in a pitcher with a spout. We had to tilt our head back and pour the juice into our mouth without touching our lips, actually quite a sanitary way to partake of the "wine". Vision sang only 3 songs because of the lateness of the hour and Tim preached an abbreviated version of his 9 AM passage, but we had an even longer ministry time. Maybe half a dozen were "slain by the spirit" during ministry time. The Kannada P'stor was suffering from back pain and Tim saw that one leg was perhaps half an inch shorter than the other, but during pr'yer, the short leg lengthened to match the other and cured his back pain. We also noticed our bus driver was among those asking for pr'yer.
We then left to have a special lunch cooked by Mrs. Samuel at her home. On the ride, Tim was finally able to return Kelvin and Claribel's many phone calls of concern for Kayla. She is doing fine, and staying in a hospital in India is not like the U.S., as many stay there even when they have a minor cold. We all stopped by the hospital after lunch to see and pr'y for Kayla who looked happy as a lark and drop off a change of clothing. Tim stayed while the rest of us returned home so he could talk to the doctors in detail about how Kayla is doing and check the blood test result to see if her white blood count is decreasing indicating her infection is subsiding. If Kayla has to stay a second night, Tim will stay over at Bangalore and fly down to Madurai with Kayla while the rest of us take ten hours or so to bus down on Monday.
But let's talk about lunch, our best meal so far in India! Home cooked Marsala chicken with yogurt and chicken briyani, topped with ice cream, all with a minimum of hot sauce - just a dash to add zing to the food. It turns out Mrs. Samuel celebrated her birthday last Monday and instead of gifts, she received cash which she spent on groceries to cook this lunch for us and a few church friends. We were so touched by her generosity and gift of hospitality. May she be repaid thirty or a hundred fold as promised by Jesus.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 4
Saturday, 7/1
PTL, Lam. 3:22-23! Each day brings renewed energy and joy. Health-wise, thanks to your covering, we are doing okay. Two or three of us had stomach issues but they only lasted a day or two, and was mostly caused by not remembering to wash our hands before eating something. Kayla was bitten by something and her ankle was red and swollen last night during the meeting but several of us prayed for her and after a decent night sleep, it seems to be better.
A word about where we are staying: SAIACS (South Asia Institute of Advanced Christian Studies) CEO (stands for Continuing Education Opportunity, not the business term you might think of) Centre is a small part of a much larger, beautifully appointed Bible college campus funded by some organization from New Zealand. The Centre is the for-profit arm of the campus, hosting guests and many events (including weddings). The hotel is staffed by the college students, working as part of their scholarship requirements and we noticed how pleasant everyone we have met is. We do feel peace and rest while staying here, unlike the hotels we stayed in last year.
We left after breakfast for our last VBS at New Home. On the way, we stopped for a few minutes to pray over a place called Peace Garden, spread over three acres with several completed buildings (a chapel and one used for Peace Hospital) but in particular a 16,000 sq. ft. three story building which could be used to house children and provide classrooms. Is this the answer to our many months of pr'yer for a permanent location for the SFI orphanage? Please join us to seek His guidance as several obstacle still need to be hurdled.
There were a few more children at New Home since it is Saturday and the older children do not have school today (although they did not join in the VBS). The energy level seems higher, and we ended the morning giving these children the clothes sewed by Allison and Terry's mother's sewing ministry group. We ate lunch and said our good-byes. By the way, the children said they usually don't eat meat every meal so they have enjoyed the lunches cooked special these last three days because we were here. We returned home by 3 to prepare our "Missing Piece" skit before leaving for our late afternoon program, a teen rally at NLF

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 3
Friday, 6/30
After breakfast, we returned to New Home where and did day two of VBS. Perhaps we tired the kids yesterday but they seemed more lethargic and restless today. We returned and debriefed and shared what we learned from today's devotion and found out that both Eugene and Mari blessed many last night and some of us were also the beneficiaries of the congregation's pr'yers for us while we pr'yed for them, real koinonia in action! We then rested before leaving for our evening meeting at six PM.

{FECA Vision Choir} Report 2
When we landed early this morning at Bangalore airport, the pilot reported the temperature to be 21 Celsius or 70 degrees Fahrenheit. What wonderful weather we were blessed with. Even at noon, it was pleasant with temperature in the mid seventies. We ate lunch at the hotel restaurant and met Moshi (Moses), who Tim had hired as his business administrator in India, a recent college graduate (but a non-singer) with a business degree. We spent the afternoon doing our devotions, going over the plans for this week, reading and signing our giving up our rights during the mission trip, and doing some rehearsal with Joanne and Nancy, who joined us about four PM when she got out of school. Kloe passed out our Vision T-shirts, designed by Natalie Harmon, and worked on the crafts for VBS which will start tomorrow for three days.
We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and went to bed early.
Thursday, 6/29
PTL, many of us slept well last night as we begin our first day of ministry here after recovering from the long flight and 12-1/2 hour change in time. We left our hotel at 8:10 and arrived at New Home, an orphanage run by Reaching Hand, the social outreach ministry of New Life Fellowship. This is a new facility partially completed a few months ago with 49 children living here. The older 30 are attending two schools and we taught VBS to the 19 younger children. The plan when completed is to have two buildings, each five stories high able to house 500 children here, and a kitchen and a large dining room. We met Pastor Samuel here, whose shared that his first priority is preaching and church planting, the second is children's ministry. The third is social concern. The lowest priority is business and only because its profits can support his ministries. Since Indian law prohibits preaching the Gospel directly, he preaches by his life and loving the children. Pastor Samuel comes from a nominal Christian family, but became a believer in 1973, and went to Bible school. After some struggle with his faith, he met a man with Operation Mobilization which deepened his faith. After getting married, he felt the call to church plant and left OM and joined New Life (started on Mumbai). In 1982, he started New Life in Bangalore, with some miraculous converts (like a gangster). He started a business on the side to support himself. Today, there are 135 churches in Karnataka Province so the Lord has provided. God also gave him a heart for orphans. Today, Pastor Samuel is no longer pastoring any church, having passed on the ministry to other pastors. Mrs. Samuel also shared her testimony, how at the age of 12, desperate to find meaning in her life with her mother on the verge of death, God called her in the night much like Samuel in the Old Testament. She felt the Lord told her to go to pray for her dying mother. She had been bed-ridden, drinking only a sip of water everyday, and after prayer, her mother sat up for the first time in 45 days. The next morning happened to be Sunday, and the whole family was able to walk several kilometers to Sunday service, astounding their neighbors and church members. Since that day she has committed to serving the Lord.
We ate lunch with the children at the orphanage, cooked by Mrs. Samuel, who came today just to meet our team and cook for us, rice and curry chicken. But before lunch, we sang "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" to the staff and children. We then spent the last few minutes singing VBS songs the kids and got back on the bus to return to the CEO Centre, where we did our daily devotions and debrief what we saw at the orphanage this morning,
