Some last minute news. We were met at the Bangalore airport by Joanne's parents, Moshi's father, Daniel, and our new brother, the bus driver who brought our stowed luggage left in Bangalore. Daniel said he is going to quit one of his 3 jobs, so he can focus on Vision Seeds, pr'y for him. It was a time of tearful farewells. Surprisingly, it was also Joanne's father and the bus driver's birthday so just after midnight, we sang happy birthday to them and left Tim and Kloe (who are leaving a day later but not returning to LS until the end of the week) and our new found friends to enter the departure section. There we found out our Hong Kong flight was delayed even more, to 4:05 AM but the airline gave us free food. We slept most of the way and arrived in Hong Kong at 1230 but there were so many (besides us) making the connection, the airlines had a special escort wish us through security and we all made it to our LA flight precisely at 1255; and then found out because of thunderstorms, our departure has been delayed about 40 minutes. We parted ways with Eugene and Jason during the mad rush, as they are visiting relatives in Hong Kong for a few extra days.
Health-wise, it seems about half the team has the 24 hour stomach flu. Kayla had it first, then Nicole, Allison, then at Bangalore, Rachel and Brendan, so here in Hong Kong, most are well on the way to recovering. (Marshall still insist he had the spicy bug, not the flu since he only threw up and did not have diarrhea like the rest of the kids.) we arrived in LA at noon, but cleared immigration and customs and were out by 1 PM, an incredibly efficient process to be greeted by Judy, Everett, Ethan and Bethany, Kelven, Kathy and Kaylin, and Eugene. Pinky came to bring Hannah, Allison and Terry home, and we are glad to be back.
One final thought regarding our ministry this trip. Marshall and Mei discussed with Tim and Kloe regarding all the healing we saw, and agreed that healing and power ministry is deceptively alluring. It is wonderful to see people healed when we pray for them and we would love to see more deliverance and healing happen in our church, but if we are not careful, healing becomes the focus and not God and His work. It is so easy to glorify the person whose prayer healed rather than the God who healed. Our focus should always be the Gospel and what Jesus did. Healing should be a secondary benefit that comes from changed lives.
