{FECA Vision Choir} Prayer Update 5

Our trip to the orphanage took about 90 minutes and led us through the many streets of Bangalore. All of us were able to squeeze in a medium size bus and we were grateful that it had a functioning air conditioner. There was a lot of traffic in the morning and part of the reason why is that there are probably only a few main roads through the city. Everybody uses them and the streets are not wide. Most people get around town riding scooters since it is easier to weave in and out of traffic.  Most of the side streets are not paved so we had a very bumpy ride on parts of our journey.

The orphanage had around 40-50 children with ages ranging from 4 to 13 years of age. They were quite happy to see us and greeted us loudly with cheerful "Hi's" and bright smiles. They were all well behaved and listened quietly as Vision sang 'Lamb of God' and 'Keepin' in touch'. We then had lunch and then spent the next hour playing games. There was plenty of things to do from singing, dancing, soccer and other group games. We finished the time taking group photos and taking photos with the kids. They were really touched that we came and asked if we planned to see them tomorrow. Unfortunately, we could not but I told them that the large Vision team would visit them next month in June. It was obvious that they don't get many visitors and not much interaction with young adults but Tim is planning to change that by having teachers make periodic visits to teach them music and also to play with them.

Our journey back took over 2 hours because the bus broke down.  Apparently some electrical wires got crossed which caused the engine to overheat. Tim made a few phone calls and was about to arrange for a group of Uber taxis to pick us up when suddenly the driver was able to restart the bus and we were able to resume our journey back home.

After resting for an hour at the Centre, we practiced a few of the songs then took a 2 hour break before dinner.  Dinner was a treat since we got to have naan, fried tandoori chicken, curry, rice and a side of yogurt sauce. The Centre hosted a wedding and I think that was why our meal was particularly special since we probably ate some of the food that was served at the wedding.

The alto group hosted a really good evening program. They were the largest group and thus was able to sing 3 songs, share one testimony and also perform a skit on the importance of having Jesus in your life.

Tomorrow's evening program will end with a treat since we will be launching sky lanterns into the air!

Prayer Requests:

  1. Continue to pray for Eugene since he sometimes has a scratchy throat and at times feels a little sick. He is still taking the NyQuil which Tim gave him.
  2. Tomorrow (Friday) is the last day of practice and hopefully there is enough time for the students to learn two more songs: The Lord Bless You and Keep You, and O That Will Be.
