{FECA Vision Choir} Music Teaching Team (MTT)- Day 2, April 24, 2018

Tuesday, April 24, 2018, Bangalore
7:30 am Breakfast with Tim, Mari, Eugene, Bess, David.  Weather warm but not hot, humid. Discussed preparations for VBS. Tim left after breakfast for destinations around India, and Mari was put in charge for the full day's schedule until Tim returns Thursday night. During the students' interaction with a scheduled speaker, Mari gathered us together in Tim's room:  Eugene, Bess and David planned the 5 crafts for the next week's VBS in both Bangalore (60 children) and Hyderabad (200 children), while Mari talked and planned with a local sister for another important activity scheduled in the summer. We were thankful that we were able to quickly choose the crafts (thanks to 2 Vision Team leaders who prepared crafts last year).  From the list Bess prepared, we dispatched Tim's helper to buy VBS supplies. After the meeting, Mari led the session on Hearing God with students for 30 minutes. Then Eugene led a session on vowels, Bess a session on consonants. Mari led us in incorporating those concepts as we sang Shine on Us with parts. Mari led another keyboard lesson for the class since they showed interest from yesterday.  David continued with solfege training for chord harmony; actually achieved Do-Mi-So, then attempted Do-Fa-La.  Eugene led a session on key signatures and locating the home tone.  During lunch at 1pm, the MTT sat with students in separate tables, continuing friendship. At 2 pm, Eugene led in teaching the motions to 3 VBS songs, after which, exhausted we took a break. At 4:30 we gathered together to cut the materials for the first day of VBS next week for a total of 260 students, led by Eugene and Mari.  It was a relaxed time to chat while we listened to praise music. Much camaraderie formed. Dinner at 7:30, talking to students in individual tables again.  David talked with and prayed for a quiet student who was from a tribal group; Bess talked to him previously in the morning.  8:30pm saw the tenor group give the sharing, testimony and song:  a powerful presentation with the message that we were in a fight as Chr^stians to protect our hearts. This generated much fellowship afterwards, and we felt united as believers in J*sus.  This was a very full day, and we were still getting over jet lag.  Eugene is much better, pretty much healed as you can see the number of sessions he led today.  Thank you for pr&yers; the One is answering. David has not had to take any meds (they really didn't seem to help anyway); able to sit for meals and sessions.  Bess has been assisting alongside others.  Mari made a good decision to rest early, since she is gearing up for 12 hour trip to Hyderabad next week with 30 volunteers and 200 children; pls pr#y for strengthening in light of this heavy task.

Praises:
--We are working well as a team, covering for one another when we are tired, filling in when the flow of the lessons require our assistance.
--Eugene is much better.  Except for some stiffness in the AM, David is fine.
--Thankful for Tim's team in India, who purchased and provided logistic support to the MTT while Tim is away. Thankful for Mari who has stepped up for Tim while he is gone, and has done very well for the MTT as leader, coordinator, time keeper, managing of our energy levels.
--Thankful for the divine appointments in interactions with program participants.  Goal of encouraging them is being met with personal touch.
--Food has been good and healthful; no health issues.  David is learning to eat with his hands (after washing them of course!).
--One student showed his integration of music concepts by stepping to explain to fellow students his understanding why there are black notes on the piano:  to preserve the sound of the diatonic scale when the home tone is moved.  Very encouraging for the music teachers!
--Another student responded well to Tim's admonition to prepare well and to keep things concise:  that student gave a very good short message tonight, and his leadership was evident.

Requests:
--Safety for Tim as he travels in India making contacts, strengthen relationships
--We would enjoy the f#ll@wship while we process VBS crafts for 260 students
--Strength for Eugene as he continues to recover, strength for Mari as she is getting over jet lag and increased responsibilities
--We would encourage the one musician to be integrated and recognized for his music leadership, and to consult him for helping reach the students in training them as more competent musicians.
--That students would continue to hear God's call for servant leadership
--That there will be continued protection for our health.
