{FECA Vision Choir} Music Teaching Team (MTT) Day 8 -April 29, 2018

Today is the start of the children's program in our city.  Our team consists of Eugene, Nancy, Daniel, David and Bess with Eugene leading.  Our activity was sponsored by Ac*ess Children's Center formerly Compassion International. We were expecting about 60 students, most of whom if not all, were sponsored children by Ac*ess.  As of 10:30 am, we had 50 registered students,  ages ranging from 3 years to 18 years of age.  There were 31 girls and 19 boys.  Ac*ess provided us a classroom space in the first floor of their building, big enough to accommodate our children with enough space for a reasonable size stage and wide enough space for group activities.  The school kitchen was adjacent to our room. Children were served their lunch in the courtyard big enough for laying out 3 long durable plastic runners where the children sit down cross-legged to eat their lunches. We the teaching staff ate along with them.

We were supposed to start at 9am.  However, our activity was also in conjunction with the local Hindu festival where most of the families were attending in the nearby location.   Most of the attendees trickled in by 10 am and so we proceeded with the program.  There were four pre-kindergarten children who came herded by their older female siblings.  One thing very admirable about these teens was that the girls take charge of registering the attendance on their own initiative.  The female teens were very adept in helping out the young ones with their crafts and as well as writing things for them.  What was remarkable also was that there seemed to be no age gap sensibilities since the teens naturally assist the young ones in doing the latter's work.  These teen girls also were not embarrassed to do the motions of the activity songs together with the young ones.  But one thing that Bess noticed was that the boys and girls sat separate from each other; there was no mingling.  I did not see the boys interacting with the girls and vice-versa.  The Ac*ess staff coordinating the collaboration between SFI and Ac*ess were present to watch the activities.

Our schedule for the VBS was as follows:
10am - 10:15 am -----Introduction and VBS Songs
10:15 - 10:30 am -----2 Games
10:30 - 10:45 am -----Snack break
10:45 - 11:05 am -----Story about Gideon
11:05 - 11:15 am -----B Verse
11:15 - 12:00 noon---Crafts
12:00 - 12:20 pm -----Sing and Play
12:20 - 12:35 pm -----Retell the story per group
12:35 - 12:40 pm -----Verse Recap
12:40 - 12:50 pm -----Distribute the completed crafts to participants
12:50 - 1:00 pm  ------Prayer and Announcements

At 2 pm, Eugene, Daniel, David and Bess planned the activity schedule for tomorrow.  We also incorporated in the discussion the evaluation of today's program.  Instead of the VBS staff making the memory verse for the participants, we will assign each group to write the verse, color it the way they want and then present it to the entire group as they all recite the verse together. Each group will take turns doing this  One advantage of this is having an additional craft activity  lessening the time of preparation from the VBS team.

M*'s report as of April 29, 2018
Made it safely here. Finishing preparations for 200 kids program tomorrow. Heard beautiful stories of redemption already, saved lives from death. Please ask for big hearts and stamina for our team. Will write more tomorrow after program.

The following is M*i's report as of Monday, 4/30:
We had a good start to the first day with the addition of Blessie, who is an excellent dancer and a great help in the children's program. Even though we didn't sleep well and there were some adjustment issues, we got the ropes down.

After waiting for a car we got set up in the morning and started with our program.  The children and teachers are lovely and our team did a good job teaching songs, stories, games and crafts for about 200 kids. The high-light was the good team cooperation with helping the children to complete the craft whales. Lynn had prepared a tasty lunch for us in her office and after waiting for rides we finally got home.

Please remember us for continuing good team cooperation, adjustment & health that we can truly be a blessing for the children!

{FECA Vision Choir} Music Teaching Team (MTT) -Day 7 April 29, 2018

Today was our first day out of the Center where we were staying to visit a local ch*  The Music Teaching Team plus T*m went with the purpose of bringing encouragement to the local group through  + ship songs and me**age from the Word via M*i  She gave an excellent sharing linked with her personal experience reminding the local group that our J* fulfills our deepest needs.  J* being the apex of our attention, she also encouraged them to "expand the tent" so that other people would know more about our J*.  It was a wonderful time of fellowship with the people there, enjoying their hospitality and words of encouragement.

Afterwards, we went to an Arabic restaurant nearby together with the parents of Mo*hi who came by to this location just because the team was there.  T&m treated all of us to a sumptuous lunch of kebab, hummus, biryani(basmati rice mixed with different spices mixed and meat), and  yogurt with minced garlic.

We then proceeded to the Center to bless M*i  for her trip to another city for a five-day activity.  Early afternoon, we received word that she reached her destination safely.  Thank you for traveling mercies!

At 2pm, E*gene, D*vid and Be&s met to prepare for our own activity for this coming week.  We were able to nail down the tentative five day schedule starting tomorrow.  We were leaving room for adjustments since we did not know how many exactly were joining us tomorrow.  We finished the remaining cut outs for tomorrow's craft activity and later after dinner, we spent time to pr* for each other and the details of our activity.

Pr*

1.       Remember M*I with her work in another city together with her coworkers.

2.       Remember E*gene as he leads the group of volunteers on his side of the city – for stamina and wisdom in making the activity successful.

3.      There will be a lot of barriers in doing this kind of work.  Pls remember that these barriers will be overcome.

4.      For the safety for all the volunteers.

5.      For all to go through the hot weather with aplomb with a lot of grace.

6.      For T*m's travel starting tomorrow.

Pr*ses:

1.       For a wonderful fellowship with the members of a local group.

2.      For having a down time today after the graduation the day before.

{FECA Vision Choir} Music Teaching Team (MTT) -Day 6 April 28, 2018

11:09 AM (6 hours ago)

Day 6 is GRADUATION DAY!!!!

Dressed in our choral outfits, we sang Lamb of God, Do Lord, In His Time, Shine on Us and He Knows My Name.  The reverberant acoustics of the room inspired us sing.  The lyrics of the songs even came out very clear which touched our hearts in more ways than one.    Impromptu at the end of the program, those students from last year sang The Lord Bless You and Keep You.  They felt an emotional bond to this song because it reminded them of the time they wanted to give back and to bless those from FEC who came to last year's graduation.  At that graduation, they had goosebumps as they sang.

Lots of picture taking occurred especially because the Hyder*b*d team would be leaving this afternoon.  Those who bonded during the week, bestowed blessing upon each other and waited in the lobby of the Center we were staying until the team actually left.  It was a tender time to reaffirm our commitment to pray for one another.

After the ceremony, all of us headed to the coffee/tea table for our refreshments.  The Music teaching team met the parents of the diligent and hard-working assistant to Tim.  They were able to join us for lunch as well.  Interactions at this point were very important such that even lunch time was at its premium.

At the beginning of the day, it was important to undergird the activity of the day with the Word and prayer.  The music team had a time of prayer for Tim.  The passage for today encouraged us to trust in our Dad and to glorify Him for the things He continued to do for us.  Tim's encouragement to everyone was to continue to do journaling of what we learned from the Word.  He gave his own example on how he did his.  As a result, he had greater enjoyment with our Dad and knowing Him deeper.

Eugene led a very meaningful devotion about 4 friends who helped a paralyzed friend down from the roof.  The One recognized the trust of the friends and healed and forgave.

One important feature of our activity here is cutting the VBS craft materials.  Starting Day 3 from 4pm-7:30pm as well additional hours on Day 5, all of us would sit together in three separate tables to cut some intricate figures that was very time consuming.  Figures like the crab and the bee had a lot of components to them that cutting the nooks and crannies of the crab claws as well as the parts for constructing the bee headband would test even the most patient person.  What made this seemingly mundane activity become priceless?

One thing for sure, this afforded a lot of opportunities to talk while cutting.  We came to know more about the person sitting next to us than in any other time slot.  We heard a lot of personal stories that otherwise we would not know.  Even language learning came in.  Mari learned words, phrases and basic greetings in Telugu from the native speakers of this language.  Every once in awhile as they came across each other, these Telugu native speakers would quiz her followed by congenial laughter.  Also, a lot of jie-jie/mei-mei type of interactions occurred also as well as gege/didi --very heartwarming to see….

We also noticed specific abilities of individuals especially the quiet ones.  Here is one young lady who could churn out quickly drawings of hearts and wings because she had a very steady hand.  As a teacher by profession, she was used to doing these crafts for her young students.  So, we who noticed this ability would assign her most of the drawings which she would execute gladly and quickly.  One other student is one of the two youngest in the group (a 15-year old).  This young man is seemingly very shy.  He did not say very much, and would isolate himself from the crowd.  The breakthrough came through constant attention to him in little ways like asking him to join our table for meals, or beckoned him to join us for tea/coffee breaks, or interviewed him about his family background.  He blossomed during the cutting activities.  He was assigned to monitor the number of craft items completed which he did diligently.  He found ways to expedite the production of specific figures.  He was very patient, not complaining, quiet but effective in the way he did his work.

These crafts would bring a lot of joy to the children who would receive and treasure them.  These children would hang them in their homes and would be reminded how much fun they had, how much they were noticed, and what lessons they learned.

Pr*ise
--The bondedness of the team and students emphasized by beautiful singing and affirmations of friendship and commitment to pr&yer for one another.
--Successful completion of 4 days of music and choral instruction.
--For the powerful effect of the previous year's interaction with the students:  songs caused memories of deep experiences bonding with important people of dedication, and the purpose for which there was such an activity.
--Completion of cutting craft materials:  260 students times 5 crafts times an average of 3 pieces per craft:  3,900 individual pieces, not mentioning putting smiles and eyes on creatures plus words like "G*d is with you always." Props to M^ri and Eugene who led the charge, and for the diligent students who came to the table to cut for hours on end.
--The fun of action songs which allowed us to move, dance and high-five one another while remembering timeless truths.

Pr&yers
--Hyder*b*d team: safe travel, bonding, organizing skill, one heart one mind as they reach out to 200 young limited English students through crafts, songs, lessons. Despite travel, ask for good prep.
--Speaking Sunday will be M^r*: ask for bl*ssing through her words.  Safe travel Sunday night to Hyder*b*d.
--B&ngalore team: outreach to 60 slum children through crafts, songs, lessons.  Ask for good prep for communicating the good news.
--Successful travel for Tim as he makes needed connections.

{FECA Vision Choir} Music Teaching Team (MTT) - Day 5 April 27, 2018

Today is the last day of classes.  The entire morning was devoted to the regular schedule as usual.  The one thing different was that Tim joined us for breakfast arriving last night from his travels. We thank our
Dad for keeping him safe during his trips.
From 8-9am - Devotions led by Eugene.
From 9-9:45 am - Psalm 138 for meditation and journal writing of thoughts; led by Tim
From 10-11 am - Theory class by David
Melody readying topics:  last difficult rhythm notes; locating other notes on the staff given DO; music test.  On the music test, asked 10 students individually in the next room to read rhythms, sing the scale with hand signals, conduct, read the tones for 4 bars of a song.  Average score was 87.5% of a very simple test, but I could tell that only 3.5 hours of teaching Kodaly music aids is not a magic bullet for instant music reading:  most students lacked the confidence to decode rhythms and melodies, and many could not sing the scale in-tune by themselves. Almost all did very well in conducting basic beat patterns.  Very instructive though to hear these students individually.
From 11am -1pm - Rehearsing the songs for the graduation ceremony tomorrow - led by Eugene & Mari
The rest of the afternoon was spent in finishing up the crafts to prepare for VBS next week.
At around 8pm, we paused from our cutting session to celebrate two occasions: one is for a birthday celebrant and a much coveted college admission of choice for another.
For David and Bess, we experienced for the first time the usual custom here for celebrants.  Instead of receiving gifts, the celebrant served the cake to the guests and using the right hand, fed a piece of cake first to the oldest person in the group followed by the others present.  What a beautiful picture of serving and hospitality!
Next,Tim handed out the outfits to be worn for the graduation ceremony.  These are souvenirs or mementos from SFI for participating in the music teaching class.  Thank you so much Tim!

We completed cutting the craft materials by 10:30pm.

Last Tuesday, I(Bess) shared our experience with the touch of the H*ly Spirit through worship singing and the morning devotion.  This time, it was at the end of the program activities at 6:30pm that we all were touched being one in the body of Chr*st through foot washing.  Supplied with two large basins of water and four towels,  all of us herded ourselves in David's and Bess' room for the ceremony. Mari and Bess did the honor of washing the feet of our three Indian sisters (the other had gone home) while Eugene and David washed the feet of our eight Indian brothers.
Mari read J*hn 13:12-16 about washing one another's feet as exemplified by the L^rd.  Then, Mari and Bess alternated washing and praying for blessing upon the sisters. In the same way, Eugene and David did the same thing.  As we were nearing the end of the foot washing, Pr*m signaled that they would do the same thing towards us - the music teaching staff.
It was very heartwarming and endearing that, the 15 year-old Sw##tie, youngest of the sisters who recently accepted the Lord last Monday, washed Bess' feet.  This young lady was demonstrating that her new life in the L^rd was taking effect.  Earlier as Bess was washing the youngest sister's feet, she was in tears to be served and loved in this manner.
In one of the teaching team's prep meetings while still in Los Angeles, Mari was thinking of a way to encourage our Indian brothers and sisters who had been laboring in the name of the L#rd with much persecution.  How can we serve them so that they can be refreshed in going back to their ministries?  This thought had been brewing in her mind until today.  All of us were richer in soul and spirit because of this.  On top of all this, as mentioned before with Bess, our Indian brothers and sisters volunteered to wash our feet.  What a beautiful experience of being One in the Body of Chr*st as the L^rd intends for us His children, obeying His command to "wash one another's feet"!
In fact, this morning anticipated what was to be our grand finale in the afternoon.  Some of us were bursting with laughter while having breakfast in the cafeteria enjoying one another's company.  No one was hurrying up to go to our next schedule.  Our being relaxed led us to appreciate our morning devotion in Eccl*siastes 2:12-24 regarding the importance of taking one day at a time.  We still went through our normal activities of the day but we were more at peace in implementing them.
From 9-10:30am after the morning devotion, Mari, Eugene, David and Bess were able to plan for the graduation program to be held this coming Saturday morning.  Eugene was given the responsibility
to do the graduation program to be submitted to Tim when he comes back.
From 11am to 11:30am - David taught the final lesson on rhythm which involved syncopation and triplet; in pitch - different scales including the chromatic scale; demonstrated singing a round song.  He asked them to identify a mystery song notation to see if our Indian brothers and sisters would recognize their national anthem.  They were able to clap the rhythm, but did not recognize the song.  When they sang the melody with the solfege, they started to recognize it.  They also requested to sing a song from last year called Lamb of G^d for the graduation ceremony.  Many of them kept the music scores for this piece.  Also, some requested to sing "The L*rd Bless You and Keep You" from last year saying that they really loved the song, especially since they sang it surrounding the audience. Unfortunately, we were out of time to prepare this piece, but plan to include Lamb of G^d for the closing ceremony.
From 11:30 -1:00 pm - Eugene and Mari rehearsed the VBS songs with motions, Do L&rd, In His Time, Shine on Us, He Knows my Name, Lamb of G^d.
After lunch from 2pm-4pm- Mari went over the B#ble stories and the skits to be used for VBS especially with the Hyderabad team that Mari would coordinate. The Bangalore team cut craft materials.
AT 4pm-6:30pm - cutting the craft materials.

Praises:
1.  For the beautiful experience of foot washing that encourage our souls and spirits as the Body of Chr^st
2.  For the morning devotions that stir our spirits
3.  For a sense of camaraderie among us teaching staff as well as our Indian brothers and sisters
4.  David is able to bend so that he can put on his socks by himself & able to bend while sitting during the foot washing
5.  Eugene's throat is a lot better today so that he can lead the singing during the rehearsal time
6.  For the wonderful experience of foot washing and the breakthroughs that occurred.

Prayer Requests:
1.  For traveling mercies for the Hyderabad team as they travel this Saturday afternoon for a 14 hour train ride.
2.  For the VBS program in Hyderabad and Bangalore next week for five days - cooperation and camaraderie of the VBS staff, favor in implementation of the program, sufficient materials for all the participants, stamina and strength for everyone especially Mari, healthy bodies.
3. For the graduation ceremony this coming Saturday morning - that the music program participants would feel that they learned something valuable that they can use in their ministries; for being encouraged in their walk with the L^rd; that they feel refreshed after going through the B*ble passages and interacting with one another.
4. For enabling our voices to sing and effectiveness in talking (testimony and message) to people during the 5 days of serving for VBS and in visiting ch*rches.
5. For the L*rd to supply the material needs of a brother who lives by faith working full time in the ministry, and is suffering the difficulties of rejection by his family because of his faith and caste.

We all had a special treat this morning during the devotion time at 8am.  The Holy Spirit ministered to us!  To the melody of the song ,"Father, I Want You to Hold Me", we sensed the comforting presence of our Lord speaking to us that He's there to carry our burdens, concerns and fears and that He's always there to love us as we are.  Even more was His presence felt when we moved on to 1Samuel 3 for our Bible passage led by Eugene.  This was about listening to God and responding to Him when He calls.  There was a heartfelt sharing in each of the three groups remembering the specific instances of the Lord's participation in each of our lives.  A time of praying for each of the participants followed.  A spontaneous move to pray over and bless Mari ensued to uphold her in her role as the leader of the group.  What a beautiful time of worship!
At 9am, Mari, Eugene, David and Bess proceeded to meet at Tim's room to discuss the teaching topics for today.  We realized that we could not keep on going with our daily activities without empowering from above.  So, we spent time to pray for each other and to give each other space to rest while the other team member(s) took responsibility for specific sessions.  It was agreed upon that David would give one hour music theory session for the next two days while Eugene would tackle vowels and consonants.  We also talked about the preparations for VBS in Bangalore and in Hyderabad especially making more efficient the cutting of craft materials to be used, the Bible lessons, the theme songs with their accompanying motions and memory verses.  Instead of all the participants doing all the cutting necessary for one craft, one craft per table manned by each of the choral grouping, e.g., sopranos/altos, bass, tenor was adapted. Planning for the VBS in Hyderabad would involve key people who participated in VBS last year.  This would be a great encouragement to Mari who would be assigned to go there next week.
At 10-11am, David covered the following music topics:  more difficult rhythms (syncopation, sixteenth note combinations), different meters, conducting those meters, moving the DO to a new key, extended scale (below DO: TI,LA,SO).  He gave out to all participants a step by step approach 23-page handout using Kodaly to "decode" any melody by separating rhythm and pitch elements, and locating those elements on the staff. He also taught the song "Jesus is King" as a round song.  He spent time with Daniel, talented musician and music leader: gave Kodaly lesson planning outline, helped him with decoding some difficult rhythms in his guitar course (teaches 35 students), jammed with him in preparation for a presentation for Friday night.
At 11am-12:30pm, Eugene emphasized specific points to sing more beautifully like in the first stanza of In HIs Time; to take note of the words "all" , "BEAUtiful", "show", "every day".  With Mari, we practised singing the songs- Do Lord, In His Time, Shine On Us -  that will be sung Friday night at the closing of the music program.
After lunch, from 2-3pm, Mari, Eugene, David and Bess proceeded to Tim's room to discuss the VBS program for Bangalore and Hyderabad.  Both places will have the same VBS program outline.  We discussed the specific Bible passages to be used, the memory verses for each of the 5 days of activity, the crafts, the theme songs and their accompanying hand motions.
From 3-4:30pm, we decided to have rest time to have some down time.  We need to be strong enough to do the VBS next week.
From 4:30 to 7:30pm - all of us spent time cutting out the craft materials.  A lot of relaxed conversations occurred during this time.
After dinner from 8:30pm-9pm - the soprano/alto group represented by Sagita and Sweetie, sang an Indian song each which talked about worship of the Lord in Tuluru language.  They were beautiful.  Sweetie who just accepted the Lord this week, tried giving a message using some passages in the Beautitudes.  It was heartwarming to see how the Indian brothers tried to coach her on how to explain the passage.  David commended her for being brave to stand in front to face all of us to bring a message from the Lord.  How inspiring is she to show the evidence of her conversion.  Thank the Lord!
Everyone in the room lingered on for 30 more minutes to cut the crafts or talk some more until Mari reminded everyone to get some rest so we could be ready for tomorrow.

{FECA Vision Choir} Music Teaching Team: Wednesday, April 25

7:30 am Breakfast with Tim, Mari, Eugene, Bess, David.  Weather warm but not hot, humid. Discussed preparations for VBS. Tim left after breakfast for destinations around India, and Mari was put in charge for the full day's schedule until Tim returns Thursday night. During the students' interaction with a scheduled speaker, Mari gathered us together in Tim's room:  Eugene, Bess and David planned the 5 crafts for the next week's VBS in both Bangalore (60 children) and Hyderabad (200 children), while Mari talked and planned with a local sister for another important activity scheduled in the summer. We were thankful that we were able to quickly choose the crafts (thanks to 2 Vision Team leaders who prepared crafts last year).  From the list Bess prepared, we dispatched Tim's helper to buy VBS supplies. After the meeting, Mari led the session on Hearing God with students for 30 minutes. Then Eugene led a session on vowels, Bess a session on consonants. Mari led us in incorporating those concepts as we sang Shine on Us with parts. Mari led another keyboard lesson for the class since they showed interest from yesterday.  David continued with solfege training for chord harmony; actually achieved Do-Mi-So, then attempted Do-Fa-La.  Eugene led a session on key signatures and locating the home tone.  During lunch at 1pm, the MTT sat with students in separate tables, continuing friendship. At 2 pm, Eugene led in teaching the motions to 3 VBS songs, after which, exhausted we took a break. At 4:30 we gathered together to cut the materials for the first day of VBS next week for a total of 260 students, led by Eugene and Mari.  It was a relaxed time to chat while we listened to praise music. Much camaraderie formed. Dinner at 7:30, talking to students in individual tables again.  David talked with and prayed for a quiet student who was from a tribal group; Bess talked to him previously in the morning.  8:30pm saw the tenor group give the sharing, testimony and song:  a powerful presentation with the message that we were in a fight as Chr^stians to protect our hearts. This generated much fellowship afterwards, and we felt united as believers in J*sus.  This was a very full day, and we were still getting over jet lag.  Eugene is much better, pretty much healed as you can see the number of sessions he led today.  Thank you for pr&yers; the One is answering. David has not had to take any meds (they really didn't seem to help anyway); able to sit for meals and sessions.  Bess has been assisting alongside others.  Mari made a good decision to rest early, since she is gearing up for 12 hour trip to Hyderabad next week with 30 volunteers and 200 children; pls pr#y for strengthening in light of this heavy task.

Praises:
--We are working well as a team, covering for one another when we are tired, filling in when the flow of the lessons require our assistance.
--Eugene is much better.  Except for some stiffness in the AM, David is fine.
--Thankful for Tim's team in India, who purchased and provided logistic support to the MTT while Tim is away. Thankful for Mari who has stepped up for Tim while he is gone, and has done very well for the MTT as leader, coordinator, time keeper, managing of our energy levels.
--Thankful for the divine appointments in interactions with program participants.  Goal of encouraging them is being met with personal touch.
--Food has been good and healthful; no health issues.  David is learning to eat with his hands (after washing them of course!).
--One student showed his integration of music concepts by stepping to explain to fellow students his understanding why there are black notes on the piano:  to preserve the sound of the diatonic scale when the home tone is moved.  Very encouraging for the music teachers!
--Another student responded well to Tim's admonition to prepare well and to keep things concise:  that student gave a very good short message tonight, and his leadership was evident.

Requests:
--Safety for Tim as he travels in India making contacts, strengthen relationships
--We would enjoy the f#ll@wship while we process VBS crafts for 260 students
--Strength for Eugene as he continues to recover, strength for Mari as she is getting over jet lag and increased responsibilities
--We would encourage the one musician to be integrated and recognized for his music leadership, and to consult him for helping reach the students in training them as more competent musicians.
--That students would continue to hear God's call for servant leadership
--That there will be continued protection for our health.

{FECA Vision Choir} Music Teaching Team (MTT): flight, Bangalore, April 21-23

Saturday April 21  Eugene Cheng blessed us by picking the Chao's, Mari and Eugene up, and then, to their delight, treated us to dim sum!  G*d is a G*d of comfort through the ministry of body members like Eugene Cheng!  The team was encouraged by his humor, servant heart, and creativity.

April 21-22  Despite initial difficulties with Mari's visa documents, that was resolved at the time of check-in.  Plane flight 21 hours, 2 hours layover in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.  The L*RD blessed in giving plane seat mates who were willing to converse with us; in one case a person will be contacted in follow up for friendship.  Also, the airline opened up seats for David to have more leg room, and one flight allowed him to have 3 seats to lie down. Pain was still intense at times, especially when told to fasten seat belts during turbulence. Forced David to cry to the L*RD.   Praise God for His providing us a smooth passage.

Monday April 23
We made it to Bangalore! Mari, Eugene, David and Bess arrived safely at 3:30am greeted joyfully by Tim and 2 students. Despite the crazy early time, we sensed the joy of Tim and company for how they took care of our initial needs.  The rooms in the center are clean and functional.

For the encouragement of the power for intercessors, especially for the situation with David's pain in the leg and back:  What seems to be a foreboding storm has turned to be a rainbow.  With all the struggles Bess and David have had to experience and possibly thinking that David is not going because of the pain for the past 5 weeks, the gates of heaven have been opened by the intercessors to God's power to 90% heal his back.  When formerly he could only sit for at most 10 minutes before needing to get up, he now can sit for 45 minute or more without any pain.  Today Monday, the greatest gift of mobility is that David was able to sit, to stand, to teach as if there was no pain at all!

Pray for Eugene Hui;  he was sidelined with gastrointestinal issues, possibly from a bad sandwich on the plane.  Though he was sidelined from teaching this morning, he was able in the afternoon to return to lead us all in the 3 songs we had learned that morning.  He was able to spend part of the afternoon joining the tenors to spend time with them.  He is taking electrolyte fluids from Tim and fasting from food for today.  Praise G*d for teamwork:  Eugene's tenors got their attention from Mari and David.

Praise G*d for the intense interest in keyboard playing, which Mari was able to get some of the men started with the chords for Shine on Us. They are very interested and delighted with the explanation unlocking the secrets of the keyboard.

Just as Gideon had his army pruned so that G*d would be the only One to get the glory, besides Eugene's stomach, David's pain, Mari's busy schedule just prior to departure, Tim's having to move so unexpectedly out of his home in the US, the L*RD has pruned the number of expected participants from 50 to the current 12.  Though this was a disappointment, because we were hoping for a greater mix of students from the north, we know that G*d has chosen these 12.

Meal times were time of hanging and bonding with students. There were several one on one conversations, which allow us to know them individually. Some come from Chr*stian families, so sometimes there are issues from being a pastor's kid, etc.  But an amazing thing happened in one of the speaker's sessions in the early morning, who dealt with Walking and Hearing from G*d.   Two students accepted the L*RD!  This harvest is despite the pruning mentioned above.  A young man also this evening gave a testimony to share about his call to be a tentmaker as an agricultural manager to support pastors in rural villages.

Praise G*d:
--We were able to exceed the teaching goals for the day, including extensive rhythmic and melodic theory.
--We were able to have the parts to three songs, 2 know previously, and one new.
--David's pain is almost all gone, and he is able to get out of bed and sit for longer periods.  What a healer J*sus is!
--Eugene is on the mend, feverish symptoms have passed.

Pray
--For Eugene's complete healing of his stomach and other symptoms (stiffness, aches, numbness)
--For Tim's travels starting Tuesday 4/24: protection around India, good/trustful-trusting relationships established r strengthened, wisdom in dealing with many changes in schedule.
--For VBS prep for next week:  60 kids in Bangalore slum, 200 kids in Hyderabad.
--For Mari as she goes to Hyderabad to assist the VBS
--For preparation for testimony/preaching/performing at churches next week in Bangalore (Eugene, Bess, David)
--For inner work for the 12 that have been entrusted to us for the remainder of this week for music teaching.
--For J*sus to do beyond what we are capable of doing in us, despite us, for us to trust Him moment by moment.
--For us to learn what G*d is saying to us as a ch*rch as we are obedient in our setting.

{FECA Vision Choir} India Music Team leaving LA tomorrow

Mari Salli, Eugene Hui, David and Bess Chao are leaving tomorrow (Saturday) afternon to begin their two plus week teaching trip to India.  They will be teaching approximately 40 young people (high school and college aged, primarily).

Please remember them in prayer, especially for David who has been suffering from a back injury and cannot sit long but has about 20 hours of airplane ride before him.  Pray for healing or perseverance to endure the trip.  Pray for a fruitful ministry.  Tim Kim is already in India preparing for their arrival.
