We have arrived in Taiwan after a very pleasant 12-1/2 hour flight. The plane was relatively empty so some of us could stretch out and sleep flat on three passenger seats. We arrived half an hour early and were met by Josh Yeh who came to Taiwan a couple of days early. Charmaine and Tania flew to Hong Kong with their mom a day before we left and were suppose to arrive a half hour before us but their plane was delayed an hour and their immigration line was long (they arrived in a Terminal 1 and we in Terminal 2) so we sat on the rented bus waiting. But they finally joined us at 10:20 PM and we drove almost an hour to our "hotel". We were greeted by Dr. Albert Chang, a retired medical doctor/professor who has worked among students for decades and who will be our host for week 1. The place we stayed is a seven story building owned by a Christian who rents the place for pastors, missionaries, and retreats. We pay US $10 a person a night to stay here (we occupied the sixth and seventh floors). Sheets, pillows, A/C, but no towels (no toilet paper either), but thank God, it is reasonably comfortable sleeping on mats (like tatami). We turned in around midnight.
